The original idea of Dial a Laugh was always to be reachable by anyone with a telephone (well, at least a push button phone, not a round dial phone). But real phone numbers cost real money. So I'm putting out the tip jar for any donations, cash or paypal. I don't have "books" to keep, but there will be bills to pay for a proper IVR (interactive voice response) phone number that will announce and allow callers to pick which laugh they want, and of course option 9 to record your laughter.
How else will sponsorship donations be used? Linking the telephone messages with the website, downloading them, and updating the "random laugh of the day" will be done manually at first, but tools and online services to mechanize and automate these processes will also require some funds.
Updating the "dad joke" / "bad joke" under option 3 is another task that will require human intervention and could benefit from automation.
In the event there are unexpected largesse arriving to support the Dial A Laugh project, any excess that cannot be used to directly make the project better, will be donated to Anna's Fund at the end of the year, at the Winchester Farmers Market, in honor of Anna LaViolette.
